Itineraries
Day 1
Downtown Monuments & Memorials (The National Mall West)
Morning: Arrive, check into accommodations, and head straight to the National Mall.
Afternoon: Explore the western end:

- World War II Memorial
Evening: Walk the Tidal Basin to see the Thomas Jefferson Memorial and Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial, which are beautifully lit at night.
Day 2
Capitol Hill & GovernmQent Core
Morning: U.S. Capitol Building (Guided Tour - Book in advance!) and the Library of Congress (Stunning architecture and history).
Afternoon: National Archives Museum (See the Declaration of Independence, Constitution, and Bill of Rights).
Late Afternoon: Walk past the Supreme Court and White House (View from Lafayette Square).
Evening: Dinner in the nearby Penn Quarter neighborhood.
Day 3
Smithsonian Museums I (History & Culture)
All Day: Dive into the Smithsonian Institution museums. Focus on:
- National Museum of American History (The Star-Spangled Banner, First Ladies' gowns).

Day 4

All Day: Arlington National Cemetery
- Witness the Changing of the Guard Ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
- Visit the grave sites of Presidents John F. Kennedy and Robert F. Kennedy.
- Tour Arlington House (The Robert E. Lee Memorial).
- Consider using the interpretive tram tour to cover the large grounds
Day 7
Presidential Estate or Departure
Option 1: Mount Vernon Day Trip:
- Travel to George Washington's Mount Vernon estate (About 30-45 minutes drive or take the Metro/bus/boat tour).
- Tour the Mansion, gardens, outbuildings, and the burial site of the first president.
- Combine with a stop in charming Old Town Alexandria on the way back for a final meal.
Option 2: Museum/Site Wrap-up: Revisit a favorite museum or explore a new site like the International Spy Museum (Paid entry) or the National Portrait Gallery.
Late Afternoon: Departure.
